With a career spanning nearly four decades, Larry Esrl, MD has been a pioneering force in urgent care and occupational medicine. Starting in 1984 in Washington state's progressive and worker-friendly system, he served as a staff physician at some of the country's first urgent care centers. This early experience, coupled with guidance from Washington's occupational medicine programs, fueled his passion for caring for injured workers. Upon relocating to New Jersey in 1988, his specialization in workers' compensation and DOT exams set him apart as an expert at IMCC Chester. His proactive approach to collaboration with community leaders, business owners, and local authorities positioned him as a trusted "company doctor." His leadership continued to flourish as Corporate Medical Director for Healthnet Medical Group, where he successfully managed and expanded urgent care centers across multiple states. During his tenure, he established an occupational medicine clinic providing specialized services for key employers like the City of Jersey City and Hoboken county employees. In 1994, his move to Parsippany IMCC marked further growth in on-site services, including respirator exams, DOTs, health fairs, and travel clinics. His commitment to understanding the unique needs of businesses and workers earned high praise and trust from clients. After a transition to Concentra, his consultancy focused on integrating urgent care physicians into occupational medicine, quality audits, and blending urgent care and occupational medicine services. His innovation and forward-thinking approach are evident in endeavors such as co-developing NADME online training, co-founding Atlantic Physicians Services, Inc., and starting MiniMedCare. Despite some ventures being ahead of their time, his resilience and learning from experiences have shaped his consulting expertise. His current role as president of NAOHP signifies a culmination of hands-on experiences, groundbreaking initiatives, and a deep understanding of occupational health. His commitment to standardization, training, collaboration, and advocacy leaves an indelible mark on the field, reflecting a legacy of innovation, empathy, and excellence.
